This 1965 Triumph Spartan (VIN# GA188879DL) has been restored as close as possible to its original condition.  Although a ’65 base, it has a 1296 cc engine (GK4394HE) from a later model Herald. As a kit car built by someone else in England, it is not perfect, and has its blemishes. For example, there are inperfections in the paint, along with some seat upholostry. A list of items dealt with during its recent restoration, as well as a brief video are linked below.

Founded by Jim McIntyre, Spartan Cars was a manufacturer of kit cars in Pinxton, Derbyshire, UK, which operated from 1973 to 1995. Their most noted model was an open 2+2 Roadster, in the style of the MG TF. It was based on the chassis and mechanicals of the Triumph Herald or Vitesse. Production of this model was discontinued in 1979, as Heralds became harder to find. From 1980 to 1995, production shifted to a different model that used a Ford Cortina as its base.

Total production by Spartan Cars during its 22 year span was approximately 3000, with the Triumph version only produdced during the first 6 years. As of today, there are 31,344,532 cars on the road in the UK, with current MOT inspections. Only 6 of them are Triumph Spartans. Of course, numbers can be misleading, since in 2018 cars 40 years old or older were no longer required to have an MOT. A Triumph Spartan is quite rare in the U.S. As far as I can discover, this particular car may be the only one here in the states.
