A beautiful example of a restored Mk 1 Mini. ( VIN # AA2S7L43248 ) I have owned this car for the past 19 years. As my collection grew, this is one I decided to restore. This 1961 Austin Mini has been restored from the subframe up. With engine and subframe removed, the car was taken down to bare metal, repaired as needed, acid etched, primed, and painted with a base coat, clear coat in its original Tartan Red. Chrome and rubber has been replaced as needed.

It has twin leading front shoes with Minifin drums; all wheel cyclinders, shoes, brake lines, and master cylinders have been replaced. The engine is an Austin 1098 cc with twin SU carburaters, and Chrome air filters. It has a stage I exhaust system and twin gas tanks for long distance driving. The doors have been removed and rebuilt. No detail has lacked attention.

The car is an original Left Hand Drive. It starts well, drives well, and stops well. His name is Reggie. :-) There are 47,828 miles on the clock, but it is assumed that is not accurate. What I can confirm is he has been driven less than 500 miles since restoration. The car is registered and has a clear Virginia title as a Mini Cooper, which is how we refer to most classic Minis in this country. The Cooper variant was first introduced in 1961; this is a true '61 Austin Mini, but NOT one of that variant.

In today's volatile market, an investment in a solid classic car has been a prime opportunity for growth in value. A Mark 1 Mini has, and is, an excellent example of a car that continues to increase in value. In addition, it is one of the most fun cars to drive that you will ever own. Priced to sell.

Information about the restoration can be found here. A partial list of items done during the restoration is here. A brief video is available here.
